"Decorative Serging Examples"

Flatlock Couching and Flatlock on the Fold

"Flatlock Embellishments" Pattern

This is a "Sampler Vest" that Linda created for a series of seminars she taught at American Stitches Sewing Expos. She used many different stitches and combinations of fabrics to create this design. All of the techniques that are mentioned in the Sampler Quilt at the right were also used on this vest. She used her "Linda's Easy Vest" pattern because it offered 14 different sections for the techniques that were featured.

This is a "Sampler Quilt" that Linda made for the class she taught at Pfaff Convention 1997. It has examples of the many stitches that can be done on the serger. From left to right-First row, 2 thread flatlock thread blending, 2 thread flatlock on the fold, 3 thread overlock applique. Second row, 2 thread flatlock ladder stitch weaving, chainstitch, heirloom 2 thread flatlock stitch for laces and 3 thread rolled hem pintucks. Third row, 2 thread flatlock seminole patchwork, 2 thread flatlock couching, 2 thread flatlock flatlock color-blocking.

This is a camisole that Linda created to show heirloom techniques that can be done on the serger. This camisole will be in the new book by Rodale Press, called "Serger Secrets".

This is a coat that Linda made from her "Linda's Serger Coat" pattern. The wool-mohair blend fabric was treated in a boiled wool technique and then dyed to create this soft color. A thread blending technique was used to decoratively serge around the entire coat. This was featured as an article in the Bernina Serger Library, June 1996 issue.
